Washington DC LISC to focus on Three Neighborhoods

The Washington Business Journal describes LISC's expanded investment in three Washington, DC neighborhoods: Ivy City, Congress Heights, and South Capitol, as part of LISC's Sustainable Communities program to support comprehensive community development. Since 1982, Washington, DC LISC has invested $100 million in DC neighborhoods. Greater KC LISC Supports Model School Program

The Kansas City Star profiles the Swope Corridor Renaissance's Upper Room, a summer school program held up as a model for the country. Started in 1999, at St. Louis Church, the program provides free summer daytime schooling and recreation for children of Kansas City's central core. In a recent study, John's Hopkins University concluded the program boosted student's academic skills.
