Capacity Building and Organizational Support

Greater Newark & Jersey City LISC provides partnering community develpment corporations (CDCs) financial and technical assistance to ensure that they are effective in their approach to build and strengthen local communities.  The goals of offering such support to qualifying CDCs are to:

  1. increase management and organizational capacity,
  2. increase and broaden the level of development activities undertaken, and
  3. enourage other donors and funders to provide additional support for community development initiatives.

By offering services to augment partnering CDCs internal staff capacity and operational fitness to take on community development projects, the Greater Newark & Jersey City LISC specifically seeks to create a core group of CDCs that are able to maintain a development pipeline.

To date, CDCs have received over $3.4 million in grant funding associated with hiring key staff to developing strategic plans.
