We also advocate on behalf of community development through efforts to affect Public Policy and work to bring community development to the forefront as we celebrate our peers' achievements in the community development field with the LISC NJ Neighborhood Achievement Awards Program. Greater Newark & Jersey City LISC provides financial and technical support for Community Development Corporations (CDCs) in order to strengthen their organizational capacity to undertake community development initiatives within Newark, Jersey City, East Orange, Irvington and Orange. Our programs offer CDCs an opportunity to secure funding for all phases of community development. We support CDC efforts to develop market rate and affordable housing (rehab or new construction) including rental units, economic and commercial developments including community facilities and rehabilitation of existing.
