Centers for Working Families

Purpose
The goal of the Centers for Working Families program is to foster the development of a neighborhood-based, one-stop resource for growing the assets of poor working families by linking them with the resources to help them move toward financial independence.  Service are "bundled" on site at a neighborhood location in a supportive and resource-rich environment.

The following are key strategies of the Centers for Working Families:

Who Can Apply
LISC works with established CBOs and CDCs to develop Centers for Working Families, with a a primary focus on LISC's "comprehensive investment" neighborhoods.  Two pilot sites opened during 2007.  LISC issued a Request for Proposals in April 2008 and selected three additional sites.  LISC is not seeking new applications at the present time.
