Kansas State Housing Trust Fund
2007 has been a difficult year for Kansas.

Natural disasters such as the Greensburg tornado and massive flooding in the southeast have rendered tens of thousands homeless. In Montgomery County, a surge of new economic growth has resulted in a lack of available housing for new workers, forcing the community to bus in these workers daily from Tulsa, Oklahoma. And other Kansas communities are feeling the effects of the recent mortgage crisis.

One answer – identify a permanent revenue source for the Kansas State Housing Trust Fund. This funding source would assist in ensuring that safe, quality and affordable housing is accessible for all Kansans -- not just in times of disaster.

By expanding and enhancing the current State Housing Trust Fund, we will help improve the available housing options for all Kansans; and in turn, contribute to the economic vitality of our communities and leverage available resources.

Stories from Kansas communities and the housing struggles they face

We've collected a group of stories which illustrate the “every day” struggles of individuals and families from across Kansas.  Together these stories highlight the statewide nature of the housing crisis.  A fully funded State Housing Trust Fund will give communities the opportunity and flexibility to respond to local situations in the manner that best meets their local needs.
