Mission / Vision Statement Revitalize and maintain designated urban neighborhoods as vibrant areas that attract people who value diversity, historic architecture, security and community.
Neighborhoods Served Beacon Hills, Center City , Squier Park , Manheim Park , East 49/63, West 49/63, South Hyde Park , North Hyde Park , Longfellow, and the Paseo Corridor.
Proudest Achievement NHS is proud of our overall 30-year track record of providing consistent service in our communities related to our mortgage financing for home purchase and home improvement, as well as our single-family home development and renovation work, particularly along the historic Paseo Corridor. NHS has received significant recognition over the past several years for these efforts. Most recently, The Economic Development Corporation of Kansas City , Missouri , awarded a 2003 Cornerstone Award to NHS in recognition of our Historic Paseo Boulevard revitalization effort.
Priorities for 2004-2005 Implementation of NHS' Parkway Redevelopment Plan, which was approved by Mayor Kay Barnes and the City Council on Jan. 8, 2004, is one of our top priorities for the next few years. In summary, the seven-year plan includes approximately 120 new single-family homes, 100 fully rehabilitated homes, and 150 fully rehabilitated multi-family apartment units. Additionally, approximately 130 existing low-to-moderate-income homeowners will be provided direct home improvement/renovation assistance. In total, the plan entails an estimated $38 million in residential real estate reinvestment in the heart of Kansas City 's urban core. Redevelopment assistance via the urban renewal provisions of Chapter 99 of the Missouri Revised Statutes, if approved by the City of Kansas City, Missouri, as well as a wide range of public and private financing are a part of this plan.
