Phase II - Request for Proposals
Greater Kansas City LISC is implementing a Request for Proposal (RFP) process for
the second phase of NeighborhoodsNOW (2009-2011). The RFP process will award Opportunity Grants to support resident-led projects and programs defined in the Quality of Life Plans for six target neighborhoods and key commercial corridors.
Applicants are asked to propose how they will meet the needs identified in each neighborhood's Quality of Life Plan and successful proposals will build on the accomplishments and activities of the past three years (Phase I).
Five Sustainable Communities Goals provide the primary guideposts for NeighborhoodsNOW.
- Develop, preserve and invest in the physical development of low-income communities.
- Increase family income and wealth, including improving residents’ skills and access to living wage jobs.
- Stimulate economic activity, including connecting our targeted neighborhoods to the regional economy.
- Improve residents’ access to quality education.
- Foster livable, safe and healthy environments and lifestyles in these communities.
Opportunity grants will be awarded in each of these five goal areas, in addition to a Community Organizing Opportunity Grant cycle. Proposals must align with the Sustainable Communities Goals and describe expected outcomes/deliverables and strategic impact.
