Since 1980, Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC) has been the nation's largest community development support organization. Opened in 1988, Twin Cities LISC has
grown to become one of the
strongest, most productive LISC offices in the
country. Twin Cities LISC combines corporate, government, and philanthropic support to provide Community Development Corporations (CDCs) with financial tools, technical assistance and policy support to:
- Build strong, durable organizations;
- Transform neighborhoods through physical and economic development;
- Build community beyond bricks and mortar; and
- Support a strong community development environment.
To date, LISC nationally has raised billions of dollars from over 2,300 investors, lenders and donors. In over 300 urban and rural communities, LISC has helped more than 2,000 CDCs build or rehabilitate more than 207,500 homes, develop 27 million square feet of commercial and community space, and create 72,000 jobs. Locally, Twin Cities LISC has committed more than $250 million in grants, loans and equity investments to CDCs resulting in over 7,400 units of affordable housing and 852,000 square feet of commercial space.
